Yes, the Sun dies today, beaten by the force of darkness, the Moon.
But tomorrow's new dawn is the rebirth of the Sun, who is going to win.
You know, pre-Christian era in Europe, people celebrated this day.
And the Christians from Rome tactically connected the festival with Christianity, telling them Jesus was reborn, and Jesus is the Sun, your God, so the winter solstice day is the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ.
(It is not said in the Bible, that Jesus was born on 25th December.)
And somehow in these long years, the winter solstice day comes earlier than 25th December...
冬至ですね。
そしてマヤカレンダーでは第13暦の終わりですね。
キリスト教になる前のヨーロッパでは、当時のお祭りはとても大事な行事でした。
太陽が暗闇を司る月の力に負けて、太陽の命が一度、終わるからです。
けれど、次の夜明けとは、太陽の新たなる誕生の証でした。
ですので、冬至の晩は敬虔に過ごし、次の夜明けを清浄な気持ちで寿ぐのです。
なかなかキリスト教が広まらない地域、つまり太陽信仰の強い地域や住民に対して手を焼いていたローマンカトリック教会では、これに目をつけ、太陽信仰をキリスト教信仰と結びつけるために、この一年で最も敬虔で清浄な、そして喜ばしい祭りを、イエスキリストの誕生日と結びつける策を思いついたのです。
（聖書のどこにもキリストの誕生日が12月25日とは書かれていません）
キリストは死んで復活する、太陽も同じだ。
あなたがたの生死を司る神として、あなたがたが崇める太陽こそキリストなのだ。
だから冬至の祭りはキリストChristを祀る日mas（ミサ）出あるべきなのです。

天体の運行が少しずつずれていくことはご存知だと思いますが、おそらく、12月25日だった冬至も、ながいねんげつのあいだにここのところ12月21日になってしまったのでしょう。
