Romeo waiting, in case better food to come

My Italian Greyhound Romeo has rather a sophisticated habit for a dog in eating.
He always eats neatly from one edge of the plate.
And when he eats up exactly half as is seen in the photo, he stops.
He sits back, waiting for a slight chance of getting better human foods.
